I've been sitting for a while. I've been in quarantine for 74 days. 74. DAYS. I am going crazy. And spending way too much money that I don't have. I was on the phone with my friend Hannah, laughing about how we get so bored we just shop and I realized that we had lowkey become housewives. We were spending ungodly amounts of money (in reality it isn't that much but for 17 year olds, $100 is a lot!) on silly things like bags and coolers and bikinis so our butts looked bigger or we seemed more curvaceous. I mean, that is the point nowadays. It's not to feel confident or rather to feel good, but what shows the most amount of skin and makes us look 'hotter'. There isn't a problem in looking hotter, but rather that I wasn't happy with the way I looked. Both of us wished for more curves and bigger this and that when in reality we are fine just the way we are. I am not happy with the way I look, but I hope with time, I will be.
Another thing I realized is that the money we were spending on us, could have gone to someone in need. Someone who didn't have a roof over the head, dinner on the table and in the cabinets and someone who didn't have a car. The money could have gone to the homeless man who walks around in skirts, travelling from Whole Foods to Staff of Life and back to New Leaf. Those are the people who need our help, not Zaful or Urban Outfitters or Levis.
